 One of Hip Hop's most sampled musicians Grover Washington Jr died late Friday evening after a performance for CBS' Morning Show. . .The 56 year old jazz great died of a heart attack. Not only did Washington influence his contemporaries like Kenny G and David Sanborn, he also influenced Hip Hop as his music was frequently used as break beats. Most notable was Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince in their classic cut 'A Touch Of Jazz'. where they used the song 'Mr Magic'. Others like EPMD, Blackmoon and Nas to name a few also sampled Washington. he will no doubt be missed dearly. |
